OMSB_OEN Exam Objectives

Section Weight Objectives
Scope of Care, Legal and Ethical Practice, and Leadership and Management 20% This section of the exam covers how to master the boundaries of the nursing role or profession. It also covers how to understand various ethical and legal considerations as well as developing leadership competencies to ensure prominent patient care.
Evidence-Based Practice Including Research & Epidemiology 5% In this section of the exam, the focus is given to how to critically understand the findings of research and how to deploy the evidence-based practices that can help to enhance the results of care. 
Adult Health 30% The section develops the understanding of how to implement skills in evaluating,  diagnosing, and overseeing various health conditions across the adult lifespan. 
Maternal Health 10% In this particular section, the candidates are tested for demonstrating unqiue and specialized knowledge in the care process to take care of women during their pregnancy, postpartum and giving birth to chidlren.
Child Health 10% This particular section of the exam covers showing the comprehension of what is child development and what popular pediatric conditions. It also covers the right steps or interventions nurses can take. 
Mental Health 10% In this section of the exam, the skills assessed relate to equipping with the skills to evaluate the care process and how psychologically ill patients can be assessed and cared for well. 
Community Health & Gerontology 15% In this section of the exam, the candidates are tested for the skills related to addressing the particular needs of older adults and older communities.
